The Mother Lode Blog

I’ve written a book exploring what it was like to grow up with a mother with undiagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder (and this likely included Narcissistic and Histrionic Personality Disorders). Called House of My Sleepless Nights, The book takes place in the lakes region outside of Troy, NY, and is set mostly in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Writing the book reconnected me on a deep level with my childhood love of nature, in particular birds, and adventure in general. My slow blog, or ‘slog’ as I call it, called Postcards from the Pacific Northwest, grew out of that. I’ve launched this new ‘slog’ –called the Mother Lode–at the moment to lay down some of my other early sensory experiences, which don’t appear in the book, at the feet of readers with whom they may resonate. I may also begin to explore the complex terrain of “mother issues” herein. This Mother Lode ‘slog’ may change, of course, and I may have to examine the terrain unfolding as the book finds its way into the hands of readers, and, as in the case with literary non-fiction, art rubs up against lives still being lived. As always, I welcome your thoughts and comments, or suggested topics for this ‘slog.’
